Bio

One of Finland’s most acclaimed jazz improvisers, Toomas Keski-Säntti is a pianist and composer based in Helsinki. He first gained recognition as a member of the celebrated Finnish ensemble OK:KO, and plays regularly with Jukka Perko, Adele Sauros Quartet, Joonas Tuuri Quartet, and Selma Savolainen Horror Vacui, among other projects.

Keski-Säntti holds a Master’s Degree in music from Sibelius Academy, where he graduated from in 2021. He continued his studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York from 2022-2023.

 

While constantly exploring new musical territories through composition and improvisation, his musical roots remain deeply grounded in jazz.

Keski-Säntti has performed at festivals and jazz clubs across the Europe and in New York. Recently, he has performed with renown artists and orchestras including Jukka Perko, Linda May Oh, China Moses, UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra, Pepe Willberg & Jukka Eskola Statement, Sami Saari, Tapiola Sinfonietta, and Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, to name a few.

Keski-Säntti is featured on more than ten albums, including several jazz albums and collaborations with popular Finnish artists Arppa and Pykäri. He was awarded the Emma Award for Jazz Album of the Year in 2024 as a pianist and co-composer of Selma Savolainen's Horror Vacui. Keski-Säntti's debut album as a leader, Unearth, will be released on Fresh Sound Records on March 28, 2025.
